New batch plant for Manatee Port
A concrete batch plant is in the planning for an area adjacent to Port Manatee, Florida. Schwab Ready Mix Inc. of Fort Myers has submitted plans with Manatee County to develop the 5025-square-foot plant at 14040 Harlee Road.
Residents of Rosedale, Heritage Harbour and other East Manatee County neighborhoods recently banded together to oppose a ready-mix plant proposed by Cemex in their area, placing more than 700 signatures on a petition opposing it.
The proposed Schwab Ready Mix plant would be located in an area zoned for heavy manufacturing, adjacent to Port Manatee’s dredge spoil storage area and the Manatee County Central Jail Facility.
Steve Tyndal, senior director of trade development and special projects with the port, said Schwab Ready Mix was affiliated with port tenant Eastern Portland Cement.
