Residents of Rosedale, Heritage Harbour and other East Manatee County neighborhoods recently banded together to oppose a ready-mix plant proposed by Cemex in their area, placing more than 700 signatures on a petition opposing it.
The proposed Schwab Ready Mix plant would be located in an area zoned for heavy manufacturing, adjacent to Port Manatee’s dredge spoil storage area and the Manatee County Central Jail Facility.
Steve Tyndal, senior director of trade development and special projects with the port, said Schwab Ready Mix was affiliated with port tenant Eastern Portland Cement.
