Government appeal to cement makers

Government appeal to cement makers
23 March 2006

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has urged the members of the AP Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA) to supply cement at substantially reduced prices for the weaker section housing programme, Indiramma.    At an emergency meeting with the cement manufacturers at his camp office on Monday, the Chief Minister said the Government has provided budget provision to build 18 lakh houses in 2006-07. As the cement consumption would go up by three times compared to the earlier programmes, he appealed to the CMA to treat it as a social obligation and supply the required cement at reduced prices, according to a CM office release.   Published under Cement News
