China produced 1.048bn tonnes of cement in 2005, up 11.7 per cent year-on-year, it was reported on February 7, 2006.  The sales revenue of Chinese cement makers totalled 260.84 bln Chinese yuan (US$32.28bn) for the year, up 16.2 per cent year-on-year. The profit of cement makers stood at a combined 8.05 bln yuan (US$999m), down 38 per cent year-on-year. 
 
Chinese cement exports in the period January to November 2005 totalled 19.37Mt, up 202.6 per cent year-on-year, China’s General Administration of Customs said. The exports were worth $599.5m, up 186 per cent year-on-year.  China reportedly exported 7.04Mt of cement in 2004.
