Cement sellers appeal over EBC consignment

Cement sellers appeal over EBC consignment
31 January 2006

An appeal has been made to the Federal Government to consider the plight of several Nigerians that depend on the products of Eastern Bulkcem Company Limited (EBC), producers of Eagle Cement, by releasing the seized ship which was about to unload its imported cement. The former chairman of Cement Sellers Association of Nigeria, Port Harcourt branch, and now patron of the association, Eze Peter Opara, made the call over the weekend in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt.

The continued seizure of the shipment by the Federal Government had paralysed the means of livelihood of all those who depend on the product of Eagle Cement. According to the patron, “all those who rely on Eagle Cement product for their livelihood are crying for help because their business are stalemated, families are suffering as monies paid to the company in expectation of the consignment for production are tied down for months now.”
