Officials lobby for end to US cement protection policy
22 June 2005

Mexican officials are intensifying their lobbying effort in seeking to end the US anti-dumping tariffs on cement imported from Mexico, local press reported. President Vicente Fox’s public policy director Eduardo Sojo and economy minister Fernando Canales are hoping that the US Department of Commerce will reverse the policy that has been in place since 1989.  Among the companies that could benefit from a change in policy include Cemex, Cementos de Chihuahua, Cementos Moctezuma, Lafarge Cementos, Holcim Apasco and Cruz Azul.
