Indian leading April shipments up

Aditya Birla group, India’s top cement producing group, said on Tuesday April cement shipments rose 9.8 per cent from a year ago to 2.48Mt. The Birla group comprises of flagship Grasim Industries Ltd, which sold 1.19Mt last month and UltraTech Cement Company Ltd, which shipped 1.29Mt.

Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd, India’s third-biggest cement maker, said on Tuesday April shipments rose 4 per cent from a year ago to 1.145Mt. In a statement, the Bombay-based company said production totalled 1.13Mt, up from 1.105Mt a year ago.
