Tanga Cement supports Zanzibar youth

Tanga Cement Company has donated 100t of cement for youth’s developmental projects in the Isles. Zanzibar First Lady Mama Shadya Karu me received the donation on behalf of Zanzibar Youth, Education, Environment, and Development Support Association (ZAYEDESA) this week, saying it would go along way in helping the poor. The donation brings to 300t of cement the group has received from the factory since 2003.

According to Mama Karume, the cement will be used to put up schools, health centres and even construction of houses for the poorest of the poor. Last year’s donation by the same company was used to construct a new maternity ward at Mnazi Mmoja Hospital among other things, she said.

Tanga Cement Managing Director Juerg Fluehman, handing over the donation at Mazizi area in Zanzibar, promised continued support for development projects. He said his company would continue donating one per cent of its income to community development projects.
