The total production of the Cement Manufacturing and Marketing Co in the Yemen during 2004 reached 572,577t, far and above the 302,577t that it produced last year. A company report said that the production of the Bajil cement factory in the same period reached 357,629t. The Amran and Burj cement factories also reported increased production.

The Arab-Yemeni Cement Company signed a contract in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last week to make initial designs for a cement factory project in the Mukalla area of the Governorate of Hadhramaut. The US $200m project will have a production capacity of around a 1Mta. The contract was signed by the president of the company and a representative of the Indian Holtec Company for engineering designs.
