Lafarge Maroc signs contract with FFEM

Lafarge Maroc and the French world environment fund FFEM signed a partnership agreement in conjunction to the installation of a 1 MW wind energy park. 

The wind energy park will supply Lafarge new cement plant in Tetouan, northwestern Morocco, with renewable energy. 

Under the agreement FFEM will contribute its expertise and financial resources to support one of the first Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects in Morocco. 

In its sustainable development plan, the Lafarge group has committed itself to reducing its greenhouse-effect gas emissions by 20 per cent globally between 1990 and 2010/t cemen produced. 

Lafarge supports its subsidiaries in the CDM project development by starting in Morocco the realisation of the Tetouan plant wind energy park.
