Holcim Philippines relocates 36 families
31 January 2005

Thirty-six families of the Angkalon Farmers Association residing at the quarry site of Holcim Philippines, Inc. (formerly Union Cement Corp.) in Lugait, Misamis Oriental, were relocated.

After having endured the dangers of living within a quarry site and being uncompensated by previous owners of the property, the families now enjoy living in their own homes when Holcim Philippines facilitated their relocation in December last year.

Under a memorandum of agreement, Holcim Philippines provided one-third of the P2m  budget allocated for the project, while the local government unit, under mayor Wellie Lim, agreed to finance one-third of the cost. The remaining one-third portion was shouldered by the Habitat for Humanity-Iligan City.
