Thai prices likely to rise

Thai prices likely to rise
27 January 2005

The cement price in 2005 is expected to be better than last year said Chumpol NaLamlieng, Siam Cement’s company president. Currently no cement producers dare to raise prices.  Actually, the current price of cement in the local market is not yet at a maximum ceiling as allowed by the Ministry of Commerce.  So there is some room for local cement producers to raise cement prices – he noted. Reconstruction in the six tsunami-hit provinces is likely to lead to stronger demand for cement products, but it may not have a significant effect on overall sales, the president added. He expected exports of cement this year to drop to less than 30 per cent of its total cement output, because of strong domestic demand.
