Cement Demand in Spain at 47.8Mt in 2004

Cement demand in Spain increased 3.5 per cent year-on-year to 47.8Mt in 2004, the Spanish Cement Makers Association (OFICEMEN) said on January 18, 2005.  The 2004 increase was lower than the 4.4 per cent year-on-year growth of cement demand in 2003.  Cement production in Spain increased by 3.7 per cent to 46.3Mt. Imports dropped 7.1 per cent to 7.6Mt while exports rose 21.2 per cent to 1.51Mt. 

In December 2004, cement demand in Spain stood at 3.22Mt, a 1.0 per cent year-on-year rise. Cement production for the period stood at 3.5Mt, up 2.5 per cent year-on-year, exports increased 4.5 per cent year-on-year to 99,802t and imports dropped 32.9 per cent to 404,200t.
