Cement sales in Switzerland rose by 7.0 per cent year-on-year to 3.955Mt in 2004, the Swiss cement industry association Cemsuisse said on January 7, 2005. Cement sales went up by 9.2 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2004 and by 6.9 per cent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2004, fuelled by the recovery of the construction industry. The fourth-quarter increase was also due to the launch of cement-intensive infrastructure projects. Cemsuisse expects a 3.0 per cent to 5.0 per cent year-on-year drop in cement sales in 2005.
