Cimpor invests in mortar plant, Spain

Cimpor  will invest a total of EUR9m (US$11.2) in the construction of a new mortar plant in Spain. The new plant will be situated in Boqueixon, Galicia region, northwestern Spain.

The plant will increase Cimpor’s mortar production capacity to 417,000tpa of mortar. The construction works, reportedly started in June 2004, are planned to be divided into two phases.  In the first phase, Cimpor, via its Spanish subsidiary Corporacion Noroeste, will invest a total of EUR7.4m. The second phase will attract a total of EUR1.6m (US$2m) for the construction of a new production line in 2009.
