Turkish Baticim Builds US$57,000 computer lab for Aegean University

Turkish cement, clinker and ready mix concrete producer Bati Cimento (Baticim) has built a 85bn Turkish lira (US$57,000/47,000 euro) computer laboratory for the Aegean University High School in Izmir, western Turkey, it was reported.

 

The company said in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) that the laboratory is equipped with 41 computers and necessary equipment.

 

Baticim posted a net loss of 884.1bn lira (US$594,000/492,000 euro) for the first quarter of 2004, versus a net profit of 6.2 trln lira (US$4.2m/3.5m euro) for the corresponding period of 2003.

 

The company has recently put into operation two ready mix concrete plants, located in Izmir’s Cesme and Bergama counties.

 

Baticim meets 40 per cert of the cement consumption in the Turkish Aegean region.
