In an effort to grease the wheel of industrial development in Kogi State, the State Government has acquired 30 percent equity shares in the Obajana Cement Company.

The acquisition came in the wake of re-negotiation with Dangote Group of companies by the State Government for the industrial development.

The State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Lawyer Bamidele Suru disclosed this to journalists in Lokoja.  However, he added that the state stands to benefit from the 5,000 job opportunities proposed for the Cement Factory. when fully takes off with effect from March 2005.
