The price of cement has been going up these past few months due to the high demand for it, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry Iloilo provincial director Diosdado Cadena said.
Cadena said as of their latest monitoring, the price of cement per bag has reached P138.00 which is P26.00 higher than that of January last year.  "Outside the city of Iloilo, the price of cement is even much higher," Cadena said.  He said in order to bring down the cost of cement, importation should be done as a short-term remedy to this problem.
