Indonesia’s October cement sales up 10.7%

Cement sales in Indonesia rose 10.7% YoY in October with the highest growth in the Moluccas and on Papua. October sales in the areas stood at 87,316t, representing a 68.5% hike on the previous year, according to data from PT Semen Gresik Tbk. Consumption increased 0.1% to 5.17Mt in October MoM with the highest demand on Java.

Growth was supported by buoyant domestic demand and increasing investment. Thailand’s top industrial group, Siam Cement plc, announced plans to spend THB11bn (US$358m) on a cement plant in Indonesia.
