Pakistan's June dispatches dragged down by lower exports

Total dispatches by Pakistan cement manufacturers during June 2013 fell 6.44 per cent to 2.702Mt compared to 2.888Mt in the previous month, held back mainly by lower export volumes.

Domestic dispatches declined 1.4 per cent on monthly basis to 2.07Mt in June 2013 compared to 2.10Mt in the month before.

The north region posted a marginal drop of 2.8 per cent to 1.665Mt compared to 1.713Mt in May 2013. Dispatches from the south were up by 4.8 per cent on monthly basis to 408,000t.

Exports on the other hand, registered a steep decline in June 2013, falling by 20 per cent to 630,000t compared to 785,000t in the previous month.

On a cumulative basis for the first 11 months of the current fiscal, dispatches were up two per cent. Dispatches from the south rose by 1.8 per cent to 4.667Mt while sales from the north region climbed at a better rate of 4.3 per cent to 20.24Mt.
