Vicem sales rise 9.5% in first nine months

Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem) reported a 9.5 per cent YoY rise in sales for the first nine months of 2013 to 15.84Mt, meeting 72.3 per cent of its full-year target.

Of the total, 14.35Mt of sales were destined for the domestic market, a rise of 6.2 per cent YoY (comprising 11.61Mt of cement and 2.74Mt of clinker). Meanwhile, 1.49Mt of cement and clinker were exported, representing a strong advance of 57.8 per cent on the same period of the year before.

The corporation produced 12.19Mt of clinker and 12.47Mt of cement in the nine months to the end of September 2013, up 11.2 and 13 per cent, respectively.

In the third quarter, sales rose by 9.6 per cent YoY to 5.19Mt, of which 4.5Mt was sold domestically while 691,000t was exported.

Vicem aims to produce 4.32Mt of clinker and 4.83Mt of cement in the fourth quarter of this year.
