Sinoma has been awarded its second cement plant project in Algeria as the Lafarge-Souakri joint venture signed the turnkey contract for its Djamoura works in Biskra.
The new works will have a production capacity of nearly 3Mta and represents an initial investment of DZD32bn (US$0.4bn). Output from the plant will help the development of Algeria’s eastern region as well as reduce its reliance on imports from 2016 onwards.
Work is expected to start soon with delivery scheduled in stages by early 2016.
