09 November 2017

According to Trend News Agency, the new cement plant will be an expansion of Akhangarancement JSC’s existing site in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This project is expected to raise the production capacity of Akhangarancement from 2Mta to 5Mta.

The site already includes the Combine of Building Materials and Structures (KSMiK), which produces commercial concrete, mortar and reinforced concrete structures. The addition of this new project will make Akhangarancement JSC the largest cement enterprise in the region.

Interfax reports that the Eurocement subsidiary, Akhangarancement, has the second largest cement production capacity in Uzbekistan. Whilst having a 30 per cent share of the Uzbekistan cement market, the company also exports to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Eurocement has confirmed that the new plant will be fitted with equipment mainly from European manufacturers. Beijing Triumph International Engineering has won the contract for the project, which is said to be worth more than US$160m. The company will now work on the design, construction, manufacture and training of personnel for the plant.

The new plant will be operational from 2020.
