Cement plants in Pakistan reached 94.65 per cent capacity utilisation during the July-November period of 2017, according to The Nation. In November 2017 the country recorded a 9.89 per cent increase in domestic consumption. In the same month, mills in the northern region of Pakistan dispatched 2.9Mta locally which is a 10.2 per cent increase YoY.

However, November 2017 also saw exports from the mills in the south of the country decrease by 45.4 per cent, to 0.07Mta from 0.13Mta. Similarly exports from the north of Pakistan fell eight per cent from the year-ago period, to 0.28Mta from 0.35Mta.

"The cement sector has so far withstood the impact of decline in exports due to a robust growth in the domestic market. However, the current political uncertainty may impact domestic growth also," said a spokesman of the APCMA.
