Sagar Cement sees 65% sales increase
08 January 2018

Sagar Cement (SCL) saw a 65 per cent rise in sales in December 2017 as the India-based company reported sales of 254,348Mt, compared with the year-ago period.

The advance in sales volumes was from a low base, formed in December 2016 on the back of demonetisation. In addition, a robust offtake in key markets such as Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which account for 45 per cent of the company’s sales, have offset muted demand from other states such as Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Output increased by 64.6 per cent YoY to 250,061Mt in December 2017, compared with 151,965Mt in the year-ago period.

The company’s consolidated cement production and sales grew by 21.8 and 22.9 per cent, respectively, on a YtD basis.

Following the acquisition of BMM Cement’s assets and Bayyavaram grinding unit, SCL’s capacity stands at 4.3Mta. The company’s plants are located close to major markets in southern India and select markets in Maharashtra and Odisha.
