GICA announces production record for 2017

Algeria’s Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie (GICA) announced a production record of 13,950,660t in 2017. This reflects an 11 per cent rise in output when compared with 12,604,0045t reported in 2016.

The sharp increase in production was attributed to the commissioning of the second line at Aïn El Kebira (Sétif) in 1Q17.

GICA is expected to increase its production capacity to 20Mta by 2020. Total Algerian production capacity is forecast at 40.6Mta in 2020, including 11.1Mta installed by LafargeHolcim and a further 9.5Mta by private operators.
