Senegal cement production up 6% in 1Q18

Cement production in Senegal increased by 97,500t in the first quarter of 2018. Sococim and Ciments du Sahel produced 1.832Mt of cement, up 5.6 per cent when compared with the 1.734Mt manufactured in 1Q17. The figures do not include output at Dangote Sénégal’s 1.5Mta plant in Pout.

Output in 1Q18 was driven by higher domestic sales, which advanced by 50.6 per cent to 1.279Mt from 0.848Mt in 1Q17. Exports fell 37.1 per cent to 564,900t from 898,200t in the year-ago period.
