Cement prices rise in Pakistan

Cement prices rise in Pakistan
04 June 2018

Prices of cement in Pakistan are expected to rise following an increase to the Federal Excise Duty (FED) to PKR1.50/kg (U$0.012) from PKR1.25/kg, in the Federal Budget 2018-19 (July 2018-June 2019). Experts expect local cement producers to pass on the extra government levy to end users.

Last week Attock Cement Pakistan Ltd (ACPL) and Lucky Cement announced increases in their cement prices, respectively. The maximum retail price for ordinary Portland cement varies between PKR600-620/bag (US$5.18-5.35/bag). The prices of 50kg per bags of cement are effective from the last week of May 2018.

Neither Attock Cement or Lucky Cement gave a reason for their price increases.
