Tajikstan sees cement exports rise 37% in 8M18

Tajik cement exports increased to 0.92Mt in January-August 2018, a rise of 37 per cent in average monthly exports when compared with 2017, according to the country’s statistics agency.

In 2017 Tajikistan exported 1Mt of cement. The latest figures mark the country’s switch to being a net exporter.

More than half (0.52Mt) of cement exports in 8M18 was delivered to Uzbekistan. Other key destinations for Tajik exports are Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

In recent years Tajikistan has brought several plants into service and last year some 13 units were operating with a capacity of 4.7Mta. Most facilities were launched with support from Chinese investors.
