Ciment Lafarge Souakri (CILAS) carried out it first export operation of 35,000t of clinker from Algeria’s Annaba port to west Africa.

The shipment is part of LafargeHolcim Algeria’s drive to export more than 2Mt of product in 2020. "This new transaction underscores the LafargeHolcim Group's unwavering commitment to diversify the country's non-hydrocarbon revenue," said LafargeHolcim Algeria.

The CILAS plant in Biskra has a production capacity of 2.7Mta, which is expected to be increased to 6Mta. In addition, LafargeHolcim Algeria also owns 8.6Mta of production capacity at its M’sila and Mascara cement plants and manages with GICA the 1.2Mta Meftah works. This year, the group exported 0.4Mta of cement to west Africa.
