Cement demand in Argentina remained largely stable YoY at 921,112t in February 2019, but fell 5.4 per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP.

Domestic demand was entirely met by output from Argentinian cement factories and, unlike in 2018, there were no imports into the Latin American country.

Of the total of 929,491t produced by domestic cement companies in February, 921,112t was dispatched to the home market and 8379t exported, reflecting YoY increases of 1.4 and 11.5 per cent, respectively.

January-February 2019
In the first two months of 2019 cement demand fell by 8.8 per cent to 1.795Mt when compared with 2M18, when Argentinian consumption reached 1.968Mt. Output in January-February 2019 declined by 6.8 per cent YoY to 1.814Mt, somewhat below the drop in domestic demand thanks to a 16.2 per cent increase in exports to 18,755t in the 2M19.
