Vietnam cement producers see 8% rise in February output

Cement production in Vietnam in February 2019 reached 5.093Mt in February, up eight per cent when compared with February 2018 but down 29.7 per cent from 7.247Mt in January 2019, according the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA).

Of this total, domestic deliveries by Vietnamese cement producers reached 2.751Mt, including 0.934Mt supplied by VICEM, an additional 0.657Mt by its associated companies and 1.16Mt by other Vietnamese producers.

Total exports increased six per cent YoY to 2.342Mt in February 2019, but were down 12 per cent from 2.667Mt in January 2019. Clinker exports stood at 1.474Mt, down 14 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM. Cement exports surged 74 per cent YoY but dropped 20 per cent MoM to 0.868Mt in February 2019.

In the year to date, output from Vietnamese cement plants reached 12.339Mt. Domestic deliveries in the first two months of the year totalled 7.33Mt, of which VICEM supplied 2.502Mt, its joint ventures 1.849Mt and other Vietnamese producers 2.98Mt. Around 1.95Mt of cement and 3.058Mt of clinker was exported in January-February 2019, resulting in total cementitious exports of 5.009Mt.
