Argentina's cement demand declines 11% in June

The Argentine cement market contracted by 11.4 per cent YoY to 860,631Mt in June, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The domestic demand was entirely met by Argentina’s cement producers, who produced 863,924t of cement during the month.

In terms of external trade, unlike in June 2018 when 2302t was imported, there were no cement cement imports in June 2019. However, the country’s cement companies exported 3293t of cement in June 2019 but volumes were down from 5067t in June 2018.

In the first six months of 2019, cement consumption in the Latin American countries fell by 6.4 per cent to 5.511Mt from 5.889Mt in the 6M18 with all volumes supplied by the domestic manufacturing base.

In addition, cement exports increased from 38,825t in the 1H18 to 49,839t in the equivalent period of this year.
