Total cement consumption in Argentina in July 2019 increased 5.1 per cent YoY to 1,000,711t, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The market requirement was entirely supplied by domestic plants, unlike in July 2018 when 2540t of cement was imported.

Production from Argentine plants during July 2019 reached 1,003,869t, up 5.4 per cent when compared with July 2018. This includes 3158t of exports, which represents a YoY rise of 18.3 per cent.

In the year to date the Argentine market contracted by 5.9 per cent YoY to 6.462Mt when compared with 6.865Mt in 7M18. No cement was imported during the first seven months of 2019 whereas in 7M18 around 65,418t of cement had entered the country.

Domestic production was down 4.8 per cent YoY from 6.841Mt in the 7M18 to 6.515Mt in January-July 2019. Exports rose by 27.7 per cent from 41,495t in the 7M18 to 52,997t in the 7M19.
