Puerto Rican cement sales return to growth in April

In April 2024 cement sales in Puerto Rico increased by 7.5 per cent YoY to 1.277m bags of 42.5kg, or 55,430t, according to data from the Statistics Institute. In March cement sales fell 17.1 per cent YoY to 51,722t, following a 7.8 per cent YoY decline in February, when sales fell to 47,880t.

Domestic cement output in April 2024 expanded by 21.2 per cent YoY to 769,000 bags or 32,787kg – the first increase in six months. In March production dropped by 30.5 per cent YoY to 27,447t, following a 12.7 per cent decrease in February to 47,880t.

January-April 2024
In the January-April 2024 period cement sales slipped 3.4 per cent YoY to 204,710t from 211,940t in the first four months of 2023.

Domestic cement production fell 3.4 per cent YoY to 115,254t from 130,200t in the 4M23.
