Shree Cement has announced plans to invest US$223m in a new 2Mta cement plant in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, as part of its three-year strategy to expand total cement capacity from 68Mta to 80Mta.

Chair Hari Bangur said the proposed facility will be located in Kondala, Chandrapur district. The company has signed a letter of intent for the project in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
