Cement producers in Puerto Rico saw an improved market in March 2026 after a challenging start to the year. Cement dispatches increased by 1.6 per cent to 62,051t in March 2026 from 61,096t in March 2025, according to the country’s Department of Economic Development and Commerce. In February dispatches had dropped by 10.9 per cent YoY to 47,916t after deliveries had started slipping in January by 0.6 per cent to 49,387t.

Production from Puerto Rican cement plants increased by 1.9 per cent YoY to 33,965t in March 2026 from 33,327t in the year-ago period. In February domestic output had shrank by 8.9 per cent to 27,759t from 30,457t in February 2025 while in January there had been a 3.7 per cent increase in production to 29,478t from 28,414t in the equivalent period of the previous year.

In the first three months of 2026 total sales decreased by 3.2 per cent YoY to 159,354t from 164,538t in the 3M25.

Domestic production slipped by 1.1 per cent to 91,203t in the January-March 2026 period from 92,199t in the equivalent period of the previous year.
