Limak Cement has commissioned its Low Carbon Cement (LCC) Mediterranean Terminal in Iskenderun, Türkiye, strengthening its export infrastructure for low-carbon cement. The terminal began operations on 19 July 2026 with its first shipment of low-carbon bulk cement to Italy.
Designed for an annual handling capacity of approximately 500,000t, the terminal will initially store and export products manufactured at Limak's Kilis cement plant. The company also plans to use the facility to support exports from its Sanliurfa plant in the future.
The first phase comprises three silos with a combined storage capacity of 7500t. Limak plans to expand the terminal to eight silos and 20,000t of storage capacity. The facility incorporates enclosed cement conveying, filtration and dust extraction systems, as well as automated level monitoring and overfill protection.
Limak said the investment will support exports to Europe and other Mediterranean markets. The company had previously identified the development of a bulk cement terminal at Iskenderun's Ekinciler Port as a means of enabling higher-tonnage vessel loading and expanding the Kilis plant's access to international markets.
