Mauritania’s cement plants have resumed normal production following several weeks of electricity disruptions, according to the country’s Ministry of Mines and Industry.
The ministry said producers have sufficient stocks to maintain domestic supplies and that cement prices remain stable, with no speculative increases identified.
The announcement followed a government inspection of several production facilities and discussions with cement companies concerning the operational and supply difficulties caused by the power interruptions.
Representatives of Ciment de Mauritanie, Cimenterie du Sahel, MAFCI Mauritanie and Mauricim confirmed that production and market deliveries were proceeding normally. The ministry did not disclose the volume of production affected by the disruptions.
