UltraTech Cement has commissioned 4.6Mta of cement capacity in India, comprising a new 3.6Mta integrated plant at Petnikota in Andhra Pradesh and 1Mta added through debottlenecking at its existing plants in Visakhapatnam, Patratu and Nathdwara.
In a stock-exchange filing dated 23 September, the company said the additions increased its domestic grey cement manufacturing capacity to 204.7Mta. Including 5.4Mta overseas, UltraTech’s global capacity now stands at 210.1Mta.
UltraTech expects the new capacity to strengthen its presence in India’s southern, eastern and northern markets and improve logistics efficiency. The filing did not specify how the 1Mta of debottlenecking capacity is divided among the three plants.
