The Assam Cabinet in India has approved customised incentives for JK Lakshmi Cement’s proposed INR110bn (US$1.3bn) investment in a clinker plant and four cement grinding units. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on 24 September that the project could create around 2000 direct jobs.

JK Lakshmi signed an agreement with the Assam government in 2025 to pursue the investment in phases over seven to eight years. The Cabinet decision advances that existing proposal; it is not a new investment announcement. The value and conditions of the incentives, and an updated construction timetable, have not been disclosed.
