UltraTech Cement says its Kukurdih Cement Works in Chhattisgarh has met all its electricity requirements through renewable power and waste heat recovery in every month since April 2026. The integrated plant, commissioned in 2024, has 3.3Mta of grey cement capacity.

Across UltraTech’s 76 manufacturing units in India, nearly a third have sourced more than half their electricity from these sources since April, while five, including Kukurdih, have exceeded 95 per cent, according to the company. UltraTech is also deploying battery energy storage systems to support greater use of renewable power.

At the end of 1QFY26-27, UltraTech reported 1463MW of renewable power capacity and 434MW of waste heat recovery capacity. It aims to increase green power’s share of its electricity mix to 85 per cent by 2030.
