Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Dangote Group president Aliko Dangote in El Alamein on 3 October to discuss potential investment cooperation, including in the cement sector.

According to Egypt’s presidency, the discussions also covered energy, fertilisers and chemicals. El-Sisi welcomed potential Dangote investments and expressed Egypt’s readiness to facilitate them.

The talks raise the prospect of Dangote extending its cement operations into Egypt. However, no specific cement project, acquisition, investment value, capacity or development timetable has been announced.
