Ambuja Cements, part of Adani group, has announced an INR145bn (US$1.53bn) investment programme to add approximately 30Mta of cement capacity across eastern, western and northern India.
New greenfield and brownfield capacity is planned in Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. Together with projects already under execution and further debottlenecking, the programme is expected to raise Ambuja’s capacity from 113.5Mta to 155Mta by FY2029-30.
The producer added 4.6Mta during the first half of FY2026-27, including expansions at Dahej and Kalamboli and the new Salai Banwa grinding unit. A further 5.6Mta is expected to be commissioned or ramped up during the second half, taking capacity to 119Mta by March 2027.
Ambuja said the expanded network would bring production closer to key markets, reduce delivery distances and improve manufacturing and logistics costs.
