Indonesia: PT Conch South Kalimantan cement plant on-stream

PT Conch’s greenfield cement plant has come on-stream in South Kalimantan, Indonesia, with an installed capacity of 1.5Mta. Construction of the factory began in 2012 and has involved an investment of US$202m. Anhui Conch Cement reports that its net profit attributable to equity shareholders for the first nine months of 2014 rose 51.8 per cent YoY to CNY8173m (US$1.3bn). The company’s basic and diluted earnings per share were CNY1.54. The revenue was CNY43,675m, an increase of 18.01 per cent from a year earlier. Cement makers in China saw a resumption in profit growth last year thanks to a combination of improved construction activity, low production costs due to weak coal prices and the government's push to close some inefficient producers. Anhui Conch Cement Co 's net profit in the first nine months rose 36.82 per cent YoY to CNY5.36bn (US$878.6m), the company said in its third-quarter report.
