Cementos Molins 1H profit falls 58%

Cementos Molins closed the first half-year with a profit of EUR8.3m, 58 per cent down on 1H12. The decline has been attributed to the poor performance of the Spanish subsidiaries, which recorded a EUR22.4m loss. The company’s overseas divisions returned a profit of EUR30.7m. Cementos Molins buys Cemex’ Sant Feliu works

Cementos Molins has reached an agreement with Cemex to buy the latter’s Sant Feliu de Llobregat cement plant near Barcelona.  The Sant Feliu works has been out of action for months due to the downturn in the Spanish cement market. Spanish cement maker Cementos Molins reported a 53 per cent on the year drop in its profit for the first quarter of 2013 to EUR4.7m, mainly due to the losses sustained by the domestic market. Spanish subsidiaries closed the quarter with a EUR10.96m loss, 47 per cent more than the previous year. Cementos Molins to reduce workforce

Spain-based cement producer Cementos Molins is to cut 56 jobs at its St Vicenc dels Horts works due to the ongoing crisis in the domestic construction market. The cutbacks will reduce the total number of employees at the plant by 29.3 per cent, according to reports in Cinco Días.

Spain’s Cementos Molins has posted a profit of EUR31.16m in the first nine months of the year. The 85 per cent rise has been attributed to successful foreign business, which continues to offset the decline in Spanish sales. Three cement companies are planning to invest in a new joint venture cement plant in eastern Uruguay’s Treinta y Tres department to tap export potential in neighbouring Brazil, according to local press reports. Cementos Molins to cut investments in 2012, Spain

Spanish cement company Cementos Molins will cut its investments in 2012 to EUR80m from EUR120m. With the move, the firm is trying to reduce its debt, standing at almost EUR400m at end-2011.
