Ciments de Bizerte resumes exports after a decade

Ciments de Bizerte has restarted exports after 10 years with a 25,000t shipment of clinker to Cameroon. The consignment is part of the company’s renewed efforts to enter the export markets with bulk deliveries of clinker and cement. Ciments de Bizerte doubles loss in 1H17

Tunisia-based Ciments de Bizerte saw its revenues fall to TND31,673m (US$12,923m) in 1H17 from TND34,564m. Its gross margin fell by TND2235m YoY and its operating income fell to TND1-545m, according to African Manager. At the end of June the company reported a loss of TND-16,613m from TND-8806m in 1H16.

Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has reported a TND22.179m (US$9.175m) loss in 2016, increasing the loss from TND6.61m the previous year. Turnover reached TND61.451m, a YoY increase of 7.5 per cent when compared with 2015 when turnover reached TND57.173. Tunisia's domestic cement sales were up 4.37 per cent in 1Q16, but slumped 5.12 per cent by 30 June 2016. However, Ciments de Bizerte saw its domestic sales increase 65 per cent at the end of 1Q16 and by a further 24.5 per cent at the end of the second quarter. Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte completes quay

Ciments de Bizerte is scheduled to complete the development project of its shipment quay by June 2016. The upgraded quay will enable the company to expand its clinker and cement exports as well as enable the unloading of petcoke for the entire domestic cement industry.

Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte sees 1.78% turnover rise in 2015

Tunisia’s Les Ciments de Bizerte posted a turnover of TND57.177bn (US$27.9bn) in 2015, up 1.78 per cent YoY. Domestic turnover saw a rise of 14.83 per cent to TND56.9m while exports have slumped by 96.3 per cent. The export low has been attributed to the instability of the Algerian market and the near-absence of Libyan demand. The company’s indebtedness has increased by 32.9 per cent to TND97.5m from TND73.4 at the end of December 2014.

Turnover of Les Ciments de Bizerte advanced 2.3 per cent YoY in 3Q15. Although sales volumes in the domestic market fell by 3.7 per cent YoY, revenues rose by 21.4 per cent YoY. The company saw a decline in export revenues on the back of a volatile market in Algeria and a lack of demand in Libya. Clinker output rose by 55,050t or 47.5 per cent when compared to 3Q14.

Ciments de Bizerte registers 20% drop in 1Q15 turnover

Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte saw its turnover fall by 19.6 per cent YoY in 1Q15 to TND11.115m. In Tunisia, the figure fell by 11.5 per cent as domestic demand fell by 9.7 per cent. However, the company noted a 84 per cent drop in exports due to the volatility of the Algerian market and the weak demand from Libya.

Tunisia: Ciments de Bizerte inaugurates plant upgrade

With the inauguration of its upgraded production unit on 17 June 2014 in the presence of the country’s industry, energy and mines, Kamel Bennaceur, Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte has increased its capacity by 50 per cent to more than 1.5Mta. The upgrade is the result of a TND250m (US$149m) investment programme which was initiated three years ago. It includes a modernisation of the plant’s dust control systems which will lower emissions to 20mg/Nm3.
