Argentina: cement consumption rises 5% MoM but notes 3% YoY decline

The Argentine cement market expanded by 5.3 per cent MoM to 1,101,072t in October 2014 but contracted by 3.1 per cent YoY, according to AFCP, the national cement producers’ association. The country’s cement producers dispatched 1,115,224t in the period. The figure, which includes exports represents a MoM increase of 5.8 per cent but a fall of 3.1 per cent YoY.

China demand nears 'turning point' - UBS

China's cement sector has entered the "new normal" of stagnant demand, according to UBS. "The turning point in China cement demand growth is near, in our view, amid limited potential upside in infrastructure investment growth and a structural downturn in the property sector," it says. Vietnam's October sales slip

Vietnam’s cement sales are estimated to have fallen by three per cent YoY during October to 5.37Mt, latest data from the country's Ministry of Construction shows. Of the total sales volumes, domestic shipments accounted for 4.25Mt. In the first 10 months of the year, total sales are estimated to have risen six per cent YoY to 53.22Mt, including 41.51Mt for the local market. Cement dispatches in Colombia rose 10.6 per cent YoY in September to 1.086Mt, according to the country’s statistics office, Dane. Grey cement production reached 1.072Mt, registering an increase of 6.9 per cent YoY. Cement shipments in the USA were up 2.8 per cent in August 2013 when compared with August 2013, according to preliminary data from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Thai domestic cement demand dipped around three per cent YoY in 3Q14, as no new infrastructure projects broke ground during 9M14, while many old projects were completed, claims the Nation paper.
