Recovery in Indonesian monthly cement sales growth

Indonesian cement sales growth picked up pace during May following a slowdown during the month before on the back of legislative elections. Last month cement sales advanced by 7.7 per cent to 5.2Mt, latest data from the Indonesia Cement Association shows. The Colombian cement market expanded by 4.3 per cent YoY in April 2014 as 0.957Mt were delivered to domestic customers, according to the latest report from national statistics office, Dane. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in March 2014 rose by nearly six per cent YoY to 6.1Mt, latest data from the USGS show. Deutsche Bank lowers China demand forecast

According to the latest research report by Deutsche Bank, cement demand forecast was lowered to 4.5 per cent, due to the recent slowdown in the real estate market in China. However, the forecast still exceeds cement supply of 1.9 per cent. The target prices of cement stocks were reduced in accordance with the adjustments on sales volume and average selling prices.

Although recent economic indicators point to a tempering of the US economy, PCA is maintaining its forecast for steady growth in construction and cement consumption during the next five years.
