Steppe Cement revenue rises as Kazakh demand rises 13%

Kazakhstan producer Steppe Cement said its 2013 revenue was 8.7 per cent higher YoY, as demand in the central Asian country increased by an estimated 13 per cent to 8.1Mt during 2013. The company generated revenues of KZT19.47bn during the year, up from KTZ17.91bn in 2012. Cement sales reached 1.37Mt, up from 1.35Mt in 2012m an increase of 1.3 per cent. Conch expects strong rise in 2013 profit

Anhui Conch, the leading cement producer in China by market value, said it expects a 50 per cent rise in net profit attributable to shareholders for 2013. Argentina reports annual consumption gains

Cement consumption in Argentina increased by 16.1 per cent YoY in December to reach 914,964t, latest data from industry association AFCP shows. However, despite the annual increase, the December 2013 figure was 12.6 per cent lower compared to demand in November 2013. Portland cement shipments by the domestic industry (including exports) were 927,964t in December 2013, also down 12.6 per cent from November's figures, but 14.7 per cent higher YoY.

Colombia: market expands 6.9% in November

Grey cement production in Colombia during November 2013 totalled 1.02Mt, a 9.6 per cent increase when compared with the same month of the previous year. Peru’s Jan-Nov demand advances 7.5% YoY

Cement dispatches in Peru fell from 939,135t in October to 896,600t in November. However, the country’s cement companies produced 920,636t, up from 916,774t the previous month and cement exports rose from 18,090t to 23,236t during the period. For January to November, Peruvian cement demand increased by 7.45 per cent YoY to 9,408,853t while exports rose 5.33 per cent to 182,427t. Around 9,598,552t of cement was produced, an advance of 6.9 per cent when compared with Jan-Nov 2012.

Vietnam full-year output seen 4.7% higher

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 57Mt of cement in 2013, up from 4.7 per cent a year ago, the government's General Statistics Office (GSO) has said. During December, output is estimated to have increased by 7.54 per cent from the previous month, and nine per cent YoY to reach 5.5Mt, according to the latest GSO estimates. Cement sales in Spain's autonomous region of Catalonia during November 2013 fell by 21.8 per cent YoY to 110,140t. The decline was more than double the 9.3 per cent fall overall in Spain.
