Tanga Cement profit rises 56 per cent, Tanzania

Tanzania-based Tanga Cement, part of the Holcim Group, has posted a  56 per cent YoY rise in net profit to TZS15bn (US$9.5m) due to increased exports and stable electricity supplies. Siam Cement Group (SCG) says its logistics unit will cover Asean and southern China within five years, partly through mergers and acquisitions. Essroc Cement’s plant in Martinsburg, West Virginia, has celebrated the completion of a US$10m railroad spur project that is expected to help a cement producer ship thousands of tons of product each year via raill. Oskolcement increases 1H shipments by 6.1%

Russia-based producer Oskolcement has reported shipments of 1.5Mt for the first six months of 2012, representing a YoY increase of 6.1 per cent. In terms of distribution, thanks to a fleet of new trucks purchased by parent company Eurocement, deliveries by road increased by 17.1 per cent YoY.

Cemex UK Cement Logisitics has added 10 new Volvo FM 12 440 6 x 2 Tractor Units to its fleet of 120 bulk powder fleet. The fleet currently covers around 1.5km per month and the decision to buy Volvo was dependent on the vehicle’s whole life costings covering maintenance, ad-blue usage if required and miles per gallon.
